Easy access vs. privilege
Acquiring higher education or special skills is a privilege in rural Uganda, particularly for girls. Attending secondary school will often remain a dream for them. The reasons are manifold: lack of financial means, early marriages, and/or teenage pregnancies.
That is why we are committed to helping girls get proper schooling. We connect them with personal sponsors to support and guide them throughout their education and/or training. Our special focus is on the many drop-outs: We want to make sure they return to school and continue their education. Gejja Women Foundation pays for their school fees, books, pens, and school uniforms, and supplies soap and sanitary towels. We want to empower the girls to live their own lives and shape their own future. Towards this goal we offer them education and security – the two most important pillars for a digni-fied and self-determined future.
