PAULA provides clean water
Most people in Mpigi have no access to clean water. They drink murky, contaminated water from waterholes that serve cattle and hu-mans alike. Gejja Women Foundation solves the issue by providing PAULA, a water purification plant.
The plant was built by a German woman engineer together with craftsmen and craftswomen from Uganda. PAULA purifies the water drawn from Gejja’s on-site well. Using a special an ultra-filtration membrane with pores smaller than bacteria and viruses, PAULA removes particles and germs. The result is germfree water that need not be boiled before drinking. The Gejja team received in-depth training, empowering them to operate, maintain and control the plant in-house. The inhabitants of surrounding villages will also benefit from clean drinking water in the future.
